Close on theheels of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' undergoing generation leaps for the second time, 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' has also gone into another fast forward mode with its protagonist Prerna undergoing a transformation from a loving person to a stern matriarch, someone who is completely away from love, a role modelled on the one played by the Big B in Aditya Chopra's 'Mohabbatein'.

'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' took a 20 year leap into the future last night, its second since it went on air three years ago. Its ushering in of the generation next, comprises Prerna's eight grandchildren - seven girls and one boy, thus adding freshness and vibrancy to the show.

As the show zooms into the future, the story of Prerna and her time tested 'Kasautii' with love and life now unveils a different facet altogether.

From being an affectionate Prerna Bajaj now to a stern disciplinarian, her life will be a set of challenges, as she covers her journey playing a lonely widow.

This change of attitude, character, persona and perspective will bring about a complete shift in her image from being a loving person to being someone completely away from love, which she terms as an 'eternal pain'! According to the story of 'Kasautii..' post the leap, Prerna, who is now a hard-hearted character, will set up a Gurukul college in Panchmeshwar.

In her Gurukul, she will be living an imposed and difficult life along with her 8 grandchildren (7 girls and a boy) and other students. As a thorough taskmaster, her Gurukul will be a place of restraint where no concept of love will ever be allowed to enter or exist through her high mounted walls of ideals, principles and restrictions into the lives of its students.

As Prerna's philosophy of life will grow to be ''Love only brings betrayal, you either get betrayed or you betray someone''.

In fact, to her it's the pain of a lifetime. 'Pyaar ka doosra naam dard hai',she tells her grandchildren and students.

With her enforced ideologies, she will make sure that no one ever falls in love in her Gurukul, for which she will maintain clear demarcations between the girls and boys sections ensuring that they remain away from interacting with each other. Although known for its strictness, Gurukul will be considered as an institute of high repute, which is known to produce the best students with highest standards.

Explaining the transformation of the protagonist Prerna from a loving person to a strict disciplinarian, the producers say, ''Finding herself amidst a Kumbh Mela, Prerna's life after 20-year leap will present a completely new dimension.

Having experienced so many unexpected twists and turns, she will, therefore, grow up to be a very protective person who is closed to life and love.'' With the generation leap come eight new faces - Prerna's grandchildren.

Holding centrestage among the new characters introduced in 'Kasautii..' will be Young Prerna (played by Kritika Senghal), the eldest granddaughter of Prerna (Sneha and Omy's daughter) and the apple of her eye. She will herself name her Prerna, because of her sheer love for her!

''Young Prerna will be a very important character in the show, as she carries the mantle of legacy forward from Prerna by idealizing and following into her footsteps,''the producers of 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay' say.
